Media and Film courses

Creative Digital Media Production BTEC

The BTEC in Creative Digital Media Production aims to equip students with the skills to work in the creative sector. We offer students a practical alternative to the theory based A Level Media Studies course.

Students will gain skills in moving image production and use industry standard equipment and software to produce practical coursework. Students on the course will have the opportunity to plan, develop and produce a range of audio-visual products such as television adverts, music videos and short films. The course will also have input from employers from the media industry and students will have the opportunity to create media for real clients in the music video unit.

For more information please see the Creative Digital Media Production BTEC page on the college website.

Media Studies

Students who take A Level Media Studies find that they are challenged in different ways to other subjects. We study areas of representation including gender, sexuality, age and ethnicity in a range of cultures, and how audiences are manipulated by the makers of media products (an important skill in the age of social media!).

For more information please see the Media Studies page on the college website.

Film Studies

The WJEC Eduqas specification is designed to introduce A level learners to a wide variety of films in order to broaden their knowledge and understanding of film and the range of responses films can generate.

This specification therefore offers opportunities to study mainstream and independent American and British films from the past and the present as well as more recent global films, both non-English language and English language.

For more information please see the Film Studies page on the college website.
